On December 7th, Le10 Sport reported Manchester United ‘stand out’ in the race for Lille’s Leny Yoro.
The French club promoted the 18-year-old to their senior team in May 2022 and he’s been a regular since the start of this season, scoring three goals from 21 appearances.
Yoro’s displays have seen a few top clubs take notice and that includes Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
A fresh report from Le10 Sport says the centre-back has been on the radar of these clubs for a month and will be one of the attractions of the winter market.
Last month, the Ligue 1 side informed PSG advisor Luis Campos that €90m is needed to sanction the France U21 international’s sale in January. This shows their desire to retain the player at least until the end of this season.
Le10 relay this and then talk about Manchester United, who have ‘formalised discussions’ with Lille over the past month. It’s claimed Erik ten Hag’s side have ‘tried to speed up’ the discussions for the defender’s transfer.
The outlet states Lille have told the Red Devils that a fee in excess of €70m is needed to sell Yoro.
Le10 add Manchester United will never invest this figure on a centre-back who has played only 37 games so far at the highest level.
On top of that, they simply don’t have the FFP room this January.
