Manchester United are the first club to make a ‘concrete move’ for Sporting Club de Portugal star Viktor Gyökeres.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who report that Manchester United have been working on their summer transfer window for several weeks and now have a clear idea of what avenues to explore.

They’re already well on the way to signing Matheus Cunha and the prospect of adding Gyökeres to their forward line ‘remains very active’. They initiated talks several weeks ago and plan to accelerate their efforts to sign the Swedish striker.

Ruben Amorim knows the player well from Sporting, where he coached him until his departure to Manchester United in November.

PSG appear to have pulled out of the running too, offering Manchester United more of a clear path towards the striker.

Gyökeres and his entourage are hoping to determine his future quickly, just a few days after the transfer window opens ideally. However suitors are taking their time, another thing which could benefit Manchester United. They’re the first to make a ‘concrete move’ for the player.

This, though, feels like an attempt by the aforementioned entourage to push Arsenal into making their own moves.

They’ve long been credited with an interest too and made promises about a move this summer too, with new Arsenal director of football Andrea Berta set to head up a major overhaul following his arrival.

Gyökeres is believed to be their number one striker target and perhaps talk of Manchester United moving concretely is now being used to push them along.
