On April 12th, Calciomercato reported that Juventus have intensified contacts with Ajax star Antony and ‘launched the challenge’ to Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
It was also stressed the Red Devils cannot be ignored in the transfer chase, especially if they end up appointing Erik ten Hag as their new manager.
Later that day, reports coming out of the English and Dutch press stated the 52-year-old has a verbal agreement with Manchester United to become their next permanent manager.
This new development seems to have given the Premier League side an edge over other suitors in the chase for the Eredivisie winger.
Tutto Juve now explain that Manchester United are ‘favourites to sign’ the 22-year-old in the summer, and the website says it is ‘one of the wishes’ of ten Hag to bring the Brazilian to Old Trafford.
The same report also explains Bayern Munich, who follow the player, have made an offer, as did a few other clubs.
Juve’s interest is highlighted again as they liked him ‘a lot’, but they are now behind others in the race for Antony’s signature.
The Brazilian has 12 goals and 10 assists from 33 matches in all competitions this season.
