Manchester United have ‘expressed’ an ‘interest in principle’ in Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski should he leave the German giants this summer.
That’s according to Sport BILD, who back up recent reports that Manchester United are eyeing the Poland star.
Lewandowski is out of contract at Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023 and is yet to sign a contract extension with the Bundesliga champions.
Indeed, there is growing unrest about the situation, with Lewandowski reportedly unhappy that he has not been offered an extension at this point.
That’s led to the belief he could move on this summer, with Bayern forced to sell if he doesn’t sign a deal or risk losing him on a free next year.
That’s seen Manchester United brought into the mix, with it recently reported that they have been in contact with Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi.
SportBILD back that up, stating that the ‘pressure continues to mount’ at Bayern regarding Lewandowski’s situation.
That’s because of Manchester United, who have ‘expressed their interest in principle’ to Zahavi. In other words, they’ve said they’ll look at a move if Lewandowski makes it clear he’ll be available.
It’s not anything more than what’s already been reported, but there is now a growing belief in Germany that Manchester United are putting themselves firmly in the picture to sign Lewandowski this summer.
