On Friday evening, RMC and their journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi brought news that Anthony Martial had agreed to extend his contract with Manchester United.

It was significant because RMC have repeatedly been ahead with Martial claims, since first reporting he’d be moving to Old Trafford from AS Monaco.

Whenever Martial has had problems at the Premier League club, it’s RMC who his agent has spoken to, including when it was explained that a contract renewal was unlikely.

That agent, Philippe Lamboley, was said to have confirmed the general agreement on a renewal to RMC, and added that “some details need to be finalised”.

Now France’s Telefoot join the growing chorus, and say a renewal has agreed which would take Martial to June 2024. An ‘official announcement’ is expected soon, with Telefoot saying it should come some time next week.

Martial, like his teammates, is enjoying life under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær, and this week spoke to the Norwegian media to explain that.

“It is great for me to work with a manager who was attacking even when he was playing, just like me. He comes with good advice, especially suggestions for positioning in front of goal and the actual finishing. There, he helped me a lot,” Martial told Norway’s TV2.

“The best advice I have received from him until now is that I have to play to my strengths. Don’t put pressure on myself. He says I have to express myself on the pitch. It is very nice to be able to get such advice from Solskjaer.”
