As our readers probably know, we’ve been spending the day looking at the Ecuador media to see if there are any updates on Manchester United’s chase for Independiente Del Valle youngster Moises Caicedo.
After hours of silence today, there’s finally some news from journalist Jorge Baravalle claiming the move is indeed happening.
He reports that there’s an agreement between the clubs, and the transfer is now only pending due to work permit issues. It’s written that Caicedo ‘will be a Manchester United player’.
Baravalle didn’t bring any other details on how things stand or how much the Red Devils are paying for the 19-year-old midfielder.
This morning, we covered other reports from Ecuador claiming that there was nothing finalised yet, but there could be news in the next few hours.
So it really sounded like only a few details were left for the move.
Caicedo is a regular starter for Independiente Del Valle both in the Ecuadorian League and in the Copa Libertadores. The fact he’s also started in the national team’s last four matches should help him get the work permit, although Ecuador being ranked 56th in the world could be a problem.
He’ll need to pick up 15 points, and by our calculation he may well do so.
