Last month, ABC Sevilla stated Real Betis made first contacts to sign Manchester United’s Antony on loan in the winter market.
A fresh report from today’s ABC Sevilla states the La Liga side will push for this deal ‘until the end’.
The Andalusian club want to accelerate their efforts to try and sign the Manchester United player, but the deal is complicated due to their finances and competition from others.
Real Betis plan to sign the winger on loan with Manchester United covering part of his salary, and the player giving up some more. Benfica and Olympiacos have also made approaches, without finding any sort of agreement so far.
Assane Diao’s sale to Como opens up space for Antony and also provides Real Betis the finances to carry out his operation.
The Brazilian lost prominence at Old Trafford and wants to move to an important league to regain his level. The report claims he favours Real Betis over the likes of Olympiacos, which is why he has rejected their offer. He’s ‘awaiting news’ from Manchester United and his agent about his future.
Real Betis are already aware of the conditions needed to sign him and have to make a lot of progress to get a deal over the line. Their intention is stay in the battle until the end or until the player makes his final decision.
Manuel Pellegrini has helped Isco, Ayoze Perez and Giovani Lo Celso recover their best levels and Real Betis want to use these examples to seduce Antony.
There’s also a hope that the attraction of living in Seville can attract Antony. ABC Sevilla suggest a longer spell than the rest of this season may be worked on, with a long term plan which would include ‘the possibility of joint future benefit for the two entities in the event of the recovery of the value of the player’.
What the exact details of that would be aren’t made clear.
According to the report, Real Betis have been in contact with Antony’s agents for three weeks. There’s clearly excitement building around this potential transfer, proven by the space ABC Sevilla have given to it.
