Manchester United are interested in Atalanta rising star Ederson and have already made an offer of €50m plus €5m for him.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the midfielder was targeted by Manchester United in the summer.
They explain that Ederson is having a strong start to the season thanks to the departure of Teeun Koopmeiners, which has freed up the Brazilian to be more of an attacking threat.
He was already a ‘size L player’ but has now become XL, continuing his development and increasing his value. Atalanta paid €23m to take him from Salernitana, but he’s now worth double, maybe triple that.
That’s already evident because Newcastle made a move for him in January and Manchester United offered €50m plus €5m in bonuses in the summer. This was rejected out of hand by Atalanta.
They know the player that they’ve got and have been justified in that decision as he’s started this season in impressive form and continued to rise.
The improvement going forward has been noticeable since Koopmeiners left and that’s only helping to increase his status and value moving forwards.
Whether that leads to more big clubs calling in future windows remains to be seen, with Manchester United already turned away this summer.
