Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong is unlikely to end up at Real Madrid this summer as he is already in ‘fairly advanced’ negotiations with Manchester United.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say the full back is ‘basically drawn to England rather than Spain’ at the end of the season.
Frimpong has been impressing at Leverkusen since his arrival from Celtic in January 2021 and has continued that this season, with eight goals and six assist in 30 games in the league, two assists in five in the Champions League and two goals and one assist in six games in the Europa League.
That’s seen him linked with a big money move at the end of the season, with Manchester United believed to be among his biggest admirers.
Erik ten Hag is keen to add a right-back to his squad this summer as neither Diogo Dalot or Aaron Wan Bissaka have managed to fully establish themselves as the first choice and convince the Dutchman.
Several reports in the last few months have made it clear they are keen on the defender, with it stated at the beginning of last month that he was edging towards Old Trafford.
SportBILD continue that today, saying that despite reports of Real Madrid being interested, it would be surprising if he were to end up there.
That’s because he is basically drawn to England rather than Spain this summer and, according to their information, that the player is in ‘fairly advanced’ negotiations with Manchester United.
In fact, Madrid are more than aware of that, hence them also being linked of Juan Foyth and United’s own Diogo Dalot.
