Nemanja Matić’s contract at Manchester United will expire in the summer and the Red Devils have an option to further extend the deal by a more year.
Calciomercato claims the midfielder is open to the idea of continuing at Old Trafford, but they state Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have no plans to keep the former Chelsea man beyond this campaign.
That’s because the player will turn 32 before the start of the 2020/21 season and, according to Calciomercato, is currently earning €10m per year in wages. Therefore, his future at United is in doubt and his agents have started looking for new destinations.
It’s claimed Matić’s representatives are proposing their client to ‘numerous’ clubs and the list includes AC Milan, Juventus and Inter Milan.
According to the report, Milan ‘immediately replied that they were not interested’ and Juventus have postponed making any decision on Matić because Fabio Paratici wants to know the situation of the Turin club’s midfielders beyond this term.
Inter have not closed the door on Matić even if Antonio Conte has indicated the Nerazzurri will look to bring in a player possessing different qualities to that of the United man.
It remains to be seen how things develop from now until the summer regarding Matić’s case.
