Ronald Araújo’s impressive performances and contract situation have not gone unnoticed and have caught Manchester United’s attention.
In short, his current deal runs down in 2023 and the La Liga side have so far failed to tie him down to a new deal.
Last week, we carried a report from Marca, who explained the 22-year-old’s renewal is ‘complicated’. It was also stated the centre-back has a ‘very strong’ offer from the Red Devils.
Mundo Deportivo have today come out with a report stating the Uruguay international’s renewal is ‘paused’, and state the ‘agreement seemed close, but in recent weeks it is being postponed more than expected’.
Indeed, the Premier League side are in the picture to sign the South American, but his camp ‘expect Barca to make a move’ to offer the central defender an improved deal.
Araújo is happy at the Camp Nou and has the intention to continue with the Catalan club, and from his environment, ‘they are postponing the offers he has’, all said to be much higher than what was offered by Xavi Hernández’s side.
Thankfully for the La Liga side, Mundo claim money is not a priority for Araújo, but his camp still want Barcelona to value the Uruguayan.
United are likely to monitor his situation and could consider making an approach in the summer if there is no progress made by Barca regarding his new deal.
