It isn’t something new to see Manchester United being linked to Sporting fullback Nuno Mendes, given this chase has been reported since the start of the year.

The player has the same agent as Bruno Fernandes, and it’s already been claimed that his transfer was put on the table when the Red Devils signed the midfielder from the Lions.

Now even though nothing happened this year, the rumours continue, and are fed by Portuguese newspaper O Jogo today.

They bring a story from Mundo Deportivo which says Real Madrid have now joined the race for Nuno Mendes, and then add some information of their own.

The outlet claims that Real Madrid now join Juventus, Inter Milan, Milan, Liverpool and Manchester United in the race.

Especially regarding the Red Devils, O Jogo writes that the club continue to follow Nuno Mendes despite signing Alex Telles from Porto last summer.

Since Nuno Mendes is still 18, it wouldn’t be weird for Manchester United to keep tracks on him. Given Alex Telles is 27 and Luke Shaw is 25, the Portuguese player would probably only be brought to Old Trafford in case the club aren’t satisfied with one of their fullbacks.

O Jogo adds that the talks for Nuno Mendes’ renewal are ongoing, and there should soon be news about a new contract for him at Sporting, so this signing would be more difficult next year.
