Sporting starlet Gelson Martins, who’s already being called ‘Alvalade’s most loved boy’, was reportedly scouted by Manchester United one more time this weekend.
A Bola claims the English club have sent “a member of their scouting department”, who watched one more of the player’s “great exhibitions”.
Gelson was vital for Sporting’s great offensive performance which made them score three goals, but went home with a disappointing result as the home team Vitória de Guimarães managed to equalise in the final minutes.
Record says the player “didn’t deserve” the result and claim that 32 (yes, thirty two) clubs have sent scouts to watch Sporting’s away match. Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus were among them.
The 21-year-old’s good performance against Real Madrid keeps being mentioned by A Bola, even though it happened three weeks ago. The youngster is having an impressive season, and even the fans didn’t expect he could be a good replacement for João Mário quite so quickly.
Gelson currently has a €60m release clause in a contract which runs until 2021.
It’s worth remembering that Manchester United have also been recently linked to the Vitória de Guimarães’ attacking midfielder Bernard Mensah during the past few weeks.
He came up as a substitute in the second half and A Bola didn’t rate his performance highly, despite Vitória de Guimarães coming back.
