Manchester United have been linked with a move for Lyon’s Moussa Dembele for well over a month.

The idea has been the striker would be a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who had been much wanted by Inter Milan and is now also linked with Juventus.

Monday’s edition of L’Equipe said Manchester United will have been convinced further by Dembele’s weekend performance, and goals, against Arsenal in the Emirates Cup.

They also said that should Lukaku leave then there’s the consideration at Old Trafford to move forward for the former Celtic player.

Monday evening sees more coming from France.

Telefoot’s Julien Maynard says contact was made several weeks ago by Manchester United with Dembele’s entourage. He’s said to be a personal pick from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the manager watched him and placed him on the shortlist.

However, it’s again pointed out that exits would be needed first… and that points straight to Lukaku.

Maynard makes clear that Dembele hasn’t closed the door to a transfer.
