It’s now time for the Brazilian media to have a say on Manchester United’s interest in the Benfica striker Carlos Vinícius.
Journalist Jorge Nicola has shared a few updates on his Youtube channel today, saying the Red Devils have contacted both the Eagles and the player’s entourage ‘in the past few days’.
Carlos Vinícius is protected by a release clause of €100m, and the Portuguese side are reportedly demanding €60m for the transfer.
It’s claimed that Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers have also shown interest in signing him, but haven’t opened negotiations. Manchester United’s chase is described as ‘hotter’.
The report also says that the transfer would be good news for a couple of Brazilian clubs. That’s because Santos, who had him between 2011 and 2013, would get 1.5% of a transfer, and Palmeiras, who had Carlos Vinícius in 2014 and 2015, would get 1%.
Jorge Nicola’s information is basically the same as the that reported by the Portuguese press this week, so we’re not completely sure he’s got it from his own sources. However, since he brings the news about how much the Brazilian sides would make with the transfer, perhaps he does have contacts in the process.
Signed from Napoli in a €17m deal last summer, Carlos Vinícius has 20 goals and 12 assists for Benfica this season.
