Despite making Rasmus Højlund their main attacking signing of the season, Manchester United had to wait until having him available, as the player had reportedly been struggling with a back injury at the start of the season.

The centre-forward was only able to make his debut on Sunday’s match against Arsenal, and his few minutes on the pitch gave the fans some hope that he’ll be completely fit once the international break is over.

Manchester United seem to be counting on that, and in quotes from BT, Højlund himself talked about the Red Devils’ concern about him. The outlet claim they are ‘in close dialogue’ with the Denmark medical team and the player confirmed this.

“It’s a dialogue between Manchester United and DBU. I’m not the one who decides how much I can play.”

However, BT firmly headline their article as stating that Manchester United are ‘affecting’ the striker’s ‘playing time’ during the international break.

The manager, Kasper Hjulmand claimed that even though he shouldn’t use Højlund for the full two matches, he’s expected to get some minutes in the upcoming games.

“He’s in good shape. He’s not going to play twice 90 minutes, but we have a plan on how to get the most out of him. We’ll see if he needs to be warmed up against San Marino.”

Manchester United are back in action on the 16th of September against Brighton & Hove Albion, and Erik ten Hag will certainly be hopeful of having Højlund in the lineup.
