Gazzetta dello Sport, in their Wednesday edition, take a look at big Serie A transfers which could potentially happen in the summer window. For Inter Milan, the topic of Ivan Perisic keeps popping up.
Ever since Jose Mourinho flew to Croatia during the international break, Perisic has been linked to Manchester United. At first it was explained that Inter were set against a sale, and Perisic’s price would be €60m anyway.
Now, having got used to the €60m figure, the Italian media believe Inter would be quite accepting of a deal at that amount. Gazzetta claim Manchester United and Chelsea are in ‘first place’ to sign the player, however, it’s hard to see either Mourinho or Antonio Conte sanctioning a €60m move.
Perisic is a good player but he’s not a €60m player, and given that he’s 28 there’d be little prospect of his value increasing from that figure. It’s unlikely that, at €60m, Perisic is a genuine consideration for either club right now.
Should Anthony Martial leave Manchester United, which would be a surprise, then Mourinho interest in Perisic would make more sense, if not at the price quoted. Conte has a certain Eden Hazard attacking from the left, so has no huge need for the Croatian.
