Manchester United are ‘charging again’ for Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic after the abrupt halt in negotiations for Frenkie de Jong.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who say United are now ‘turning their attention’ to the Lazio midfielder.
The website reports that following the interest expressed between April and May, those in charge at Old Trafford had chosen to bet on De Jong.
The Dutchman, though, has never been convinced about the move to Manchester United and continues to stonewall them despite an agreement with Barcelona being in place.
That is ‘forcing’ United to evaluate their other options, and Milinkovic-Savic ‘has come back into fashion’ in the last few hours. Lazio have not changed their stance and are demanding €70m in cash.
While nothing formal has happened as yet, despite rumours to the contrary, the ‘manoeuvres behind the scenes’ are ongoing. If an ‘assault’ from Manchester United arrives, holding onto Milinkovic-Savic ‘would be really complicated’.
The midfielder is not pushing for the move or anything of that nature, but with two years left on his deal, there is a feeling ‘the right moment to say goodbye may have arrived.’
