When Manchester United were first linked to Casemiro this week, it might have sounded like a joke to many.
The Red Devils seem desperate for new signings in the final stretch of the transfer window, and after failing to get deals over the line, it seemed difficult to convince a star who’s just won the Champions League with Real Madrid.
It turns out, however, that the reaction from the Spanish media has actually been encouraging the rumours. Earlier today, we covered claims from outlets Marca and Mundo Deportivo both saying the player is actually considering a move to Old Trafford.
AS then came in claiming Manchester United offered him a ‘dream’ five-year contract, with him now ‘torn’ between staying at the club he loves or accepting a deal he’d hold until his retirement.
And according to El Chiringuito’s Josep Pedrerol, the Red Devils would like to get the deal done before Saturday. He also claims there’s a five-year deal on the table, with the player being able to make twice as much he currently earns, and it’s possible he’ll ask to leave the La Liga giants.
They claim Real Madrid supporters can rest assured that the midfielder is going nowhere, as he has ‘no intention’ of leaving, and it’s ‘hard to believe’ the player could be heading to Manchester United this summer since the club have ‘not received an offer from the English club’.
Something similar is reported in Brazil. ESPN’s Gustavo Hofman says neither Casemiro nor the Galacticos are keen on the move. Still, the midfielder’s staff does not see the deal with Manchester United as ‘impossible’.
