Manchester United star Edinson Cavani is now authorised to play Uruguay’s match in Brazil on the 14th of October.
Since people who’ve been in England are supposed to quarantine when landing in the country, there was some fear that the Celeste would miss the striker for an important game.
We all saw Brazil’s health agency stop the match against Argentine because a few players broke those rules, so Uruguay wouldn’t even risk having Cavani on the pitch in that case.
However, according to their FA president Ignacio Alonso, the striker now has an authorisation to be an exception, just like the players from the Brazilian national team.
“We received the official authorisation at six thirty in the morning and Cavani will be able to play against Brazil in Manaus,” Alonso told Sport 890.
With this fixture taking place on the night of the 14th of October in Brazil, morning of the 15th in the UK, that means both Cavani and Fred have a really short time to get back to England, where the Red Devils play Leicester City on the 16th.
So that basically rules them out of that match.
Despite reports from the English media saying clubs would request players to leave their national teams early, it’s already been claimed in Brazil that they wouldn’t like to agree to that.
It would be no surprise to see the same situation with Cavani, who’s constantly making it clear how much he loves playing for Uruguay, and who already missed their matches in the last international break.
