Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong will be leaving the club this summer and ‘Manchester United beckons’ for him.
That’s according to SportBILD, who suggest the Dutchman will be moving to Old Trafford at the end of the season.
The newspaper explains that Leverkusen will be undergoing something of a rebuild this summer, with several players set to depart after impressing in Germany.
The club has already worked on improving the full-back positions with the addition of Arthur, who joins from America Mineiro, while Alejandro Grimaldo is set to join from Benfica on a free transfer.
Additions were needed in both positions as the club are set to lose their current stars, with Frimpong one of those who will be leaving.
He’s been linked with a move to Manchester United for months as it’s known Erik ten Hag is keen to add a right-back to his squad as neither Aaron Wan-Bissaka nor Diogo Dalot have established themselves this season.
A report at the beginning of this month stated that a deal for Frimpong was ‘fairly advanced’ and SportBILD now seemingly back that up, claiming ‘Manchester United beckons’ for the 22-year-old.
They provide no information on the nature of the deal, what kind of contract he will sign or anything of that nature, they just hint that a deal will be happening at some point.
We’ll therefore have to wait for more details on that front, but the belief in Germany seems to be that Frimpong will be joining United at some point in the coming months.
