Over the past month or so, there’s been a few claims linking Manchester United with a move for Moussa Dembele.
The 22 year old joined Lyon in the last summer transfer window from Celtic, having been linked with a move for several transfer windows before that.
Claims, which started in France, explained scouts had been sent to watch the striker for Lyon on several occasions. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wasn’t just interested in what happened on the pitch, and wanted to find out about the player’s attitude.
The reports which returned to Old Trafford were positive, and that encouraged the rumours to continue.
Friday’s edition of L’Equipe says Manchester United are ‘attentive’ to the potential signing, but it’s insinuated they’d be met with a brick wall at Lyon.
The French club plan to sell both Tanguy Ndombele and Nabil Fekir this summer, and won’t be in any need for further cash.
On top of that, the French newspaper say that selling Dembele, less than a year after signing him, would make a mockery of Lyon’s sporting project and future planning.
Atletico Madrid are also credited with interest.
