Known for producing some great talent, Sweden have the next generation waiting in the wings, with the likes of Lucas Bergvall catching the attention of a lot of big clubs, including Manchester United.
The 17-year-old midfielder is already a semi-regular with Djurgarden at his age, and a number of teams are lining up to try and get him early, despite him only joining his club in February from Brommapojkarna.
A report from Spanish journalist Matteo Moretto, relayed by Fotboll Direkt, explains that Barcelona are trying to overtake the competition from Manchester United and others by making their first move.
It’s revealed the La Liga side have made ‘first direct contacts’ with the player’s entourage, while Inter Milan have already made an ‘official offer’.
As for Manchester United, they are ‘attentive’ to the situation, clearly liking the talent on display without making any sort of move just yet.
The Swedish outlet then bring their own information, stating that Rennes and Inter are ‘not relevant’ to the conversation, suggesting that despite making an offer, the Italians don’t really stand a chance of getting Bergvall.
That could bring some hope to Manchester United, who might still need to move quickly if they want to avoid being beaten by the pro-active Barcelona.
