Earlier this week it was reported in Germany that Bayern Munich are coming round to the idea of selling Corentin Tolisso in the next transfer market.

Having signed from Lyon in 2017, the midfielder hasn’t really had the impact required. There’s been worries regarding injuries, and right now Tolisso is a long way from being a key member of the Bayern team.

So with a disappointing player they’re considering selling, who has a patchy fitness record, and just two years on his contract come the summer, what do Bayern Munich need? Manchester United interest.

Or at least the idea of it.

This week’s edition of Kicker claims Manchester United tried to sign the midfielder on loan during the January window. There certainly weren’t big claims of this at the time, despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team being linked with several options.

Tolisso was out with a calf strain in December, and since then he’s played a grand total of 13 minutes in the Bundesliga.

Given Bayern have a player they clearly need to market if they’re to get a reasonable fee, Manchester United interest is really very convenient.

Especially when it can be presented retrospectively, and with the claim the Premier League club were knocked back.
