Manchester United forward Anthony Martial ‘will pack his bags’ and leave Sevilla in a month and a half.
That’s according to Marca, who say the Spanish club’s ‘winter gamble’ has not paid off for them so far.
The striker joined Sevilla on loan in the January transfer window, looking to get regular game time away from Manchester United, where he had been struggling under Ralf Rangnick.
He’s managed nine appearances for Sevilla since arriving but has struggled to find any kind of form, with just one goal and one assist to his name so far.
The club are less than pleased by what they’ve seen so far, and it seems a permanent move in the summer is not going to be sought.
Marca cover the situation today and say that Martial is ‘far from the performance’ that was expected, and Julen Lopetegui’s efforts to find a role for him have not been successful.
The Frenchman has played as a striker, a winger and even as a fourth midfielder but has ‘lacked confidence’ and never produced anything near to what Sevilla were hoping for.
They had made a ‘winter gamble’ in signing Martial in the hope he would be able to ‘give the squad a leap in quality’ to push towards their goals in the second half of the season.
That’s not happened, they’re not impressed, and it’s now certain that Martial ‘will pack his bags in a month and a half’ and return to Manchester United to determine his future there.
