One of the players expected to leave in January 2020 transfer window, Boubakary Soumaré refused a move to Newcastle United to stay at Lille.

The summer transfer window also came and went, with no real sign of movement from interested clubs, meaning the young midfielder remained under Christophe Galtier’s orders for the time being.

However, that doesn’t mean clubs, like Manchester United, have forgotten about him, as RMC Sport’s Mohamed Bouhafsi reports on Monday.

The journalist took to Twitter to reveal that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side ‘appreciate’ the midfielder’s ‘profile’, and have been ‘following him for many seasons’.

However, and it’s a big one, it doesn’t appear that a move in January is on the cards as there ‘still hasn’t been any talks with the player’s entourage or Lille’.

This suggests Manchester United could be keeping an eye on Soumaré’s situation, perhaps with a view to the summer instead of the current window.

Things can always happen quickly in football, and we know the Red Devils aren’t shy of spending the cash when needed.

It’s also worth noting the midfielder hasn’t been a regular this season, starting just eight games from a possible 19 in Ligue 1.

With near three weeks left in the window, there’s more than enough time to get a deal organised from scratch, so we’ll be keeping an eye on this going forward.
