It’s September 7th, 2024, and still Manchester United and Newcastle United are being linked with a move for Adrien Rabiot, this time by the media in France.
The 29-year-old has been without a club since his Juventus contract expired at the end of June. Despite the best and repeated efforts of the Turin club to keep the Frenchman, he decided to leave them for a new adventure.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t quite materialised yet and Rabiot continues his summer, keeping fit and playing on boats in the Mediterranean.
He may have been given a bit of a nudge by Didier Deschamps this week. The France manager was asked about the midfielder and made his frustration clear that Rabiot hasn’t found a new club yet. Deschamps also made it clear that when he does, the player will be welcomed back into the France squad.
So there’s a France international right there, who was important for Juventus throughout most of his time with the club, and is available for free… so who wants him?
Saturday’s edition of Le Figaro says that’s Manchester United and Newcastle United.
They state Barcelona had been keen but their current situation as a financial mess is holding them back.
According to the French newspaper the two Premier League clubs could make an offer soon. They need to hurry, because Deschamps is getting impatient.
