Manchester United have revived their summer interest in Barcelona’s Dani Olmo, but could face competition from Manchester City.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say the Manchester duo are ready to move for the Spain star if he becomes a free agent at the beginning of January.

Olmo is currently on course to be released from his contract with Barcelona tomorrow as they have been blocked from registering their big summer signing.

This has not gone unnoticed by the biggest clubs in Europe, according to Mundo Deportivo, who report that they are all ‘very attentive’ to the situation around the 26-year-old.

Manchester United are one of them after already showing an interest in the summer while Manchester City, who are long-time admirers themselves, have also ‘renewed their candidacy’ for his signature.

Olmo, for his part, is aware of the growing interest in him but is ignoring proposals for the time being as he wants to remain at Barcelona. They are the club he has wanted to play for his whole career and not being able to do so would be seen as the biggest disappointment of that career.

He is therefore waiting to see how the situation develops in the hope that Barcelona can work out their finances to accommodate him and re-register him in the squad.

The fact is, though, his situation is one that ‘transcends borders’ and both Manchester United and Manchester City are ready to pounce in January if he is available on a free transfer.
