Manchester United are among the ‘top clubs’ who will ‘compete’ with Bayern Munich to sign Saša Kalajdžić.
That’s according to Sky Deutschland, who state the Bundesliga winners have identified the VfB Stuttgart star as a replacement or a backup for Robert Lewandowski next term.
Bayern are not alone as Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain also ‘keep an eye’ on the forward.
The 24-year-old missed the first half of this season due to a shoulder injury. Since regaining full fitness in January, he managed six goals and two assists from 15 league matches.
Sky transfer expert Marc Behrenbeck explains there will be a first round of negotiations between the Bavarian club and the Austria international this week. The journalist adds the player is on BVB’s list, while Manchester United are also in the picture for him.
“He’s on Dortmund’s list. Paris have also expressed an interest, United have enquired about him, but so far there has been no contact from the clubs to VfB,” Behrenbeck said.
The Sky transfer expert further stressed the ‘concrete negotiations with Kalajdžić’ would not take place later this week.
Kalajdžić’s contract expires in 2023 and the report adds he is ‘available for €20m’ in the summer. The Red Devils are in the picture, have made contact, and time should tell whether they will convert their enquiry into a firm interest for the attacker in the coming days and weeks.
