Manchester United remain keen on Atalanta youngster Amad Traoré but will not make a move for him until issues over his identity are sorted.
That’s according to Calcio Atalanta, who cover the situation regarding the 18-year-old forward following reports about a potential transfer from England.
Several newspapers in England ran stories about Manchester United’s interest in the youngster yesterday, stating they had made contact with the Italian side about a move.
Calcio Atalanta back those up, saying United have been following Traore ‘for some time’ and the two clubs even held talks about a possible move ‘last winter’.
They explain that there is an investigation into an ‘irregular family reunification’ that has seen several people accused of ‘aiding and abetting illegal immigration’ and that has ended up stalling the potential move.
Manchester United are concerned that they could end up with some sort of ‘sports disqualification’ although the situation is uncertain at present.
For that to happen there would have to be an investigation by the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, which Calcio Atalanta say ‘is not exactly a very short process’.
Thus, United are sitting back and waiting to make their move, preferring to avoid any possible legal ramifications at this moment in time.
