Manchester United ‘already negotiating’ to sign defender – Club have asked for €20m

Barcelona are ‘already negotiating’ with Manchester United over a potential deal involving Sergiño Dest.

That’s according to Sport, who explain the La Liga side are demanding €20m to let go of the right-back, who can also operate on the left side of the defence.

Manchester United have tried to lower this fee by offering Diogo Dalot to Barca, but they would only be interested in carry out a deal for Dest if it’s a ‘pure and simple sale’.

The Catalan outlet states the Red Devils’ interest in the USMNT fullback isn’t new as they asked about him while negotiating with the Blaugrana for Frenkie de Jong.

In the last few hours, the report adds the ‘contacts have intensified’ for Dest.

Erik ten Hag wants the former Ajax man at Old Trafford to occupy the right-back slot. Prior to signing Dest, Sport explain Manchester United must get rid of one of the players operating in the same position.

Xavi Hernández’s side want to close the American’s case as early as next week. It’s also said Chelsea could position themselves to make a bid for Dest despite extending César Azpilicueta’s contract.
