Manchester United loanee Andreas Pereira didn’t need much time to impress at Flamengo.
Now with eight appearances since his move to the club in the summer, the midfielder has already shown he can be a starter in their team full of stars, having scored another goal in the 3-0 win over Athletico at the weekend.
That’s the reason why not only Flamengo, but also the Brazilian press, are thrilled with his start at the club. And even though there’s still a long time left in his loan, we already see a few stories about the chances of a permanent move.
Back in August, when Pereira completed the transfer, it had been claimed the Rio de Janeiro side would need to pay around €15m to make the purchase. Now local outlets say he’d actually be a little more expensive.
UOL, via Lance, today features a story saying the buying clause is actually €20m. That could be triggered until the end of June, when the loan from Manchester United expires.
Flamengo’s record signing was the one of Gabriel Barbosa when buying him from Inter Milan for €17.5m. They did that following a loan spell where the player scored 43 goals in one season.
So for the Rio de Janeiro side to break that record, Andreas still needs to show a lot more, despite having a promising start.
