Bild on Monday insist Manchester United haven’t lost any of their interest in Jadon Sancho, ahead of an expected summer swoop for the Borussia Dortmund player.
Covering claims from The Athletic that the Red Devils aren’t quite as hot on the player as they once were, Bild seek to present otherwise. The German newspaper states Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side ‘absolutely want’ to sign the England international in the next market.
Bild say transfer ‘poker’ has already started ahead of a swoop, with the suggestion being that Manchester United will be looking to get Dortmund’s price down as low as possible. Giving the impression that they’re not as keen as they once were would be seen as a move in that direction.
BVB wanted €120m for the player last summer, but now the likelihood of them getting such a fee is low. Covid-19 has impacted the finances of clubs around the world, and Dortmund themselves are in need of an economic boost.
Should Bild be correct then we all probably have several months of the ‘poker’ to look forward to, and it’s likely the media close to the Bundesliga club will try to drag other potentially interested parties into the equation.
