Italian agent Vincenzo Morabito spoke today to Gonfia La Rete on Radio Martels about many rumours in the European transfer market.
With Manchester City confirming the departure of Sergio Aguero at the end of the season, that was obviously one of the subjects in their conversation.
But the official also had something to say about Pep Guardiola’s incoming signings, since the rumours of a move for Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne are now back in the local media.
Morabito claims this is a move which Manchester City had already tried to do in the past, and one they could, in fact, manage to get for a fair price this time.
“Something has come out within our environment but in September of last year, it seems that Napoli had asked for a lot of money or perhaps City offered too little, it seems 30 million, Napoli wanted more and in the end they didn’t want to sell,” said Morabito.
“Insigne remained and has the contract expiring. Would Napoli still refuse that figure now? I think that would be a large amount considering the fact of the contract expiring. The salary will be decisive, the player will ask for a lot of money to stay at Napoli. I think the right valuation will be 20-25 million.”
Insigne has 13 goals and eight assists for Napoli this season, and, as mentioned by Morabito, the captain’s contract with the club expires in 2022, which would make a transfer a lot more likely.
However, with contract sagas often ending in happy renewals, we should probably wait a little more until this rumour gains more strength in the Italian media before getting too excited.
