It seems that even if Manchester City sign Thiago Almada now, they will only bring the player to England in the summer of 2021.
As explained by Record’s front page story today, Sporting are making one special demand in this three-club deal, and that is to have the player on a two-year loan.
The Lions reportedly believe the winger may not adapt to European football immediately, and that’s why it’s so important to have him developing at the club for a couple of seasons.
This is the only ‘nonnegotiable’ request made by the Portuguese side, as they wait for Manchester City and Velez Sarsfield to find an agreement for the transfer.
Record now says Manchester City are getting ready to pay over €20m for the youngster. Despite his €16m release clause, the English side are working a way to make the Argentine club happy and stop them from offering a new contract to the youngster, which would increase his clause to €25m.
The outlet says the transfer is ‘getting closer’ as the terms between the three clubs are ‘aligned’. So it should be a matter of time until Velez, Sporting and Manchester City get what they want.
