This morning we covered a story from A Bola on Manchester City interest in João Félix.
They’re not the only ones in Portugal with claims.
Newspaper Jornal de Notícias also brings an article about the chase, and they actually sound more convinced that Pep Guardiola’s side are going for the Benfica youngster.
The outlet claims to have managed to ‘confirm’ the news which came from Sky Sports earlier this week, saying there’s interest from the Premier League side. According to Jornal de Notícias, Félix is seen by Manchester City as a replacement for David Silva at the club.
Just like A Bola reported earlier today, Jornal de Notícias also says that the departure of Gabriel Jesus would favour Félix’s arrival in Manchester.
The report says that the English side should be making an official bid for Félix ‘in the coming weeks’. Benfica even tried to raise his €120m release clause, but the player’s wage demands made the negotiations wobble.
Jornal de Notícias adds that recently, João Félix had told people close to him that he wished to stay at Benfica for one more season. But given the approaches from big clubs, including the likes of Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona, they’re not so sure he will stick to the plan.
