Manchester City youngster Dario Sarmiento is reportedly set to leave on a new loan.
According to a report from South American journalist César Luis Merlo, the winger is on his way to Uruguay, where he’s joining Montevideo City Torque.
Sarmiento is set to play for the club for six-months, until December, when the local season ends.
Manchester City spent €5m to sign Sarmiento from Argentine side Estudiantes last summer. Pep Guardiola, however, had no immediate use for him, and he was sent on loan to Girona. There the player made made only nine appearances last season.
The Citizens now continue to use their partnerships to send him to another club from the City Football Group. Montevideo City Torque don’t have a record of receiving loanees from the English side, unlike European clubs such as Girona, Troyes and Lommel. So this may be a test, or even a start, for how things work when the group purchase South American youngsters.
The 19-year-old has a contract with Manchester City running until 2026, so there’s plenty of time for him to draw Pep Guardiola’s attention.
