Loaned to their City Group affiliate ESTAC Troyes until the end of next season, Manchester City’s Issa Kaboré was meant to have stability to develop.

The Burkina Faso international was voted the best young player of the most recent Africa Cup of Nations, which clearly caught the attention of a few clubs, including Brentford FC.

That’s according to French journalist Benjamin Quarez, who explain that despite the agreement with Troyes, Manchester City ‘will recall’ the player.

Why isn’t entirely clear, but he adds it’s ‘surely to sell him’ off the back of it, with Thomas Frank’s Brentford having ‘just entered the dance’ for the right-back.

Bought from KV Mechelen in 2020 for around £4m, the 21-year-old has yet to make an appearance for Manchester City, and might never do so.

He did, however, make 32 last season for Troyes, picking up two assists, and it could be Brentford who benefit from his services going forward.
