Sports commentator Raffaele Auriemma was the guest during Radio Marte’s program Si Gonfia La Rete, where he revealed Napoli are interested in Valencia’s Rodrigo.
This is relayed by CalcioNapoli24 and there are obstacles for Carlo Ancelotti’s side in signing the striker in the summer as Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also said to be after the Brazil-born Spain international.
It’s explained the Premier League winners and the Bavarian club are keen on the 28-year-old, who has scored 14 goals and registered eight assists in 51 appearances across all competitions.
Rodrigo still has three more years left on his contract and Auriemma claims the Italian club have made an offer of €35m plus €5m in bonuses for the striker.
This is well short of Valencia’s valuation as Auriemma states the La Liga side are demanding a fee of €65m to part ways with the player.
The report does not explain whether or not City, Bayern or Napoli are willing to meet Valencia’s demands for the attacker.
Pep Guardiola has the services of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus as to the two recognised strikers in the squad and despite the limited playing time at Manchester City, the Brazilian has scored 20 goals and registered four assists in the process.
Unless and until Jesus asks for a move away from the Etihad, it could be unlikely the English champions would be looking to bring in a striker in the summer.
And €65m for a 28 year old scored eight league goals last season sounds a little ambitious from Valencia.
