In a world where it seems Manchester City can sign whoever they like, including youngsters from around the world, it seems not everyone is easily convinced.
Step forward Valencia youngster Jaume Durá, who has seemingly turned down overtures from Manchester City to remain where he is at Valencia.
AS reports that Durá, who has been breaking all the records in Valencia’s youth team, has turned his back on interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe to remain at the Mestalla.
The newspaper explains that Valencia’s current youth set up is considered one of the best in Europe and the latest to come out of it is Durá.
He is shining at this moment in time and has been earmarked as a footballer who could lead the next generation of Spanish players.
That’s seen him ‘closely followed’ by giants such as Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City, among others, but he’s not interested in the overtures.
Instead, Valencia have moved to protect the youngster with a renewal that will extend his relationship with the club for another three years, which is the maximum they can do for players under 18. The two parties will look at the situation again when he turns 18.
While AS don’t say Manchester City were rejected, journalist Manuel Amor goes one step further, insisting Durá has said no to Real Madrid, Manchester City and Barcelona to renew with Valencia.
According to his information the renewal is set to be made official at some point on Friday after he turned 16 earlier this week.
He reports that Manchester City were one of the sides to have ‘asked about’ the player’s situation but were quickly turned away as the youngster wants to remain where he is.
