Manchester City’s chase for River Plate youngster Claudio Echeverri today gets an update from the Italian media.
Calcio Mercato journalist Gianluigi Longari writes on Twitter that Pep Guardiola’s side are trying to ‘sprint’ to get the signing done.
It’s said Manchester City’s idea is to get the signing done in January in order to beat competition from other European clubs.
For now, there’s no information on how much the Premier League side are willing to put on the table to get this transfer sorted.
The reason it’s the Italian media bringing the news is that Juventus are also seen as one of the contenders to sign the 17-year-old.
Echeverri may only have four appearances for River Plate’s first team, but certainly caught Manchester City’s attention while playing for Argentina’s youth ranks.
It’s worth recalling that Pep Guardiola’s side bought Julian Alvarez from the Buenos Aires side not so long ago, so they surely have good communication with them.
We shall soon see how Manchester City’s ‘sprint’ will work to beat Juventus’ competition, as it’s really the financial offer that should make the difference in the end.
