Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo will not be joining Manchester City, with a determination for all parties to remain at the Camp Nou.
That’s according to journalist David Ibáñez on El Desmarque, despite reports that Manchester City could come back into the picture for the Spaniard.
Olmo has had a turbulent year at Barcelona since joining them from RB Leipzig last summer, with La Liga transfer rules leading to him not being registered at various points.
Some reports have stated that Olmo could be moved on again this summer as Barcelona continue to wrestle with massive financial issues and efforts to balance their books.
Manchester City have been named as a potential destination once again, having been in the mix for Olmo last summer when he was leaving Leipzig.
Numerous reports in Germany made it clear that Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the midfielder and sees him as a long-term replacement for Kevin de Bruyne. With the Belgian moving this summer, now could be an idea time to bring Olmo in.
Ibáñez, though, insists that won’t be happening as Barcelona want to keep him and he wants to remain at Barcelona also.
“We have to remember that City was one of the teams bidding for Dani Olmo when Barcelona was after him,” he said.
“He had good offers from the English club, because Guardiola loves him, and also from Bayern Munich after attracting attention in the Bundesliga. The two offers he had were good, even better than Barcelona’s financially speaking.
“Olmo wanted to return to Barça because he left La Masia, he was keen on the Barça option, with a new coach and a new adventure,” he commented before ruling out an exit. “The subject is closed. Barça wants Dani Olmo and Dani Olmo wants Barça.”
