Reports in the English media about Lionel Messi and Manchester City refuse to go away, and they’ve been given some encouragement from the Madrid leaning newspapers in Spain.
Messi’s future will always be of interest, and Mundo Deportivo have picked up claims from The Sunday Mirror. The latest English story was pretty much the same as it often is. A huge transfer fee, colossal wages, and the presence of Pep Guardiola would give Manchester City a chance of signing Messi.
Mundo Deportivo rubbish the idea of the claims ever coming to fruition, and point out the whole scenario is getting closer to a ‘happy ending’ for Barcelona and Messi, with no victory for Manchester City.
It’s pointed out that Messi’s father Jorge will arrive at Barcelona in December to start renewing the player’s contract. Barcelona will ‘do everything’ to make the Argentina international the highest paid player in the world, and both parties are confident a renewal will happen soon enough.
