Manchester City’s interest in Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini continues to be commented in the Italian media.
A new story on the 18-year-old’s future is brought by Sport Mediaset (via FC Inter News), with the outlet claiming Inter Milan want the youngster to replace Stefan de Vrij.
It’s said the Nerazzurri could invest €40m in Scalvini, even knowing he’ll have to prove himself for a bigger challenge there than at Atalanta.
The story, however, points out that Inter Milan are not alone in the race for the defender, as the list of contenders includes Bayern Munich, Juventus and Manchester City.
It’s said the Old Lady appear to have ‘the advantage’ in the race, while the Bundesliga and the Premier League sides are ‘also on the trail’ of the player.
Manchester City’s interest in Scalvini has been reported by the Italian media since September, with multiple claims saying Pep Guardiola’s side see him as a talent on the rise.
Local reports had already claimed he’d cost over €30m, and with these new claims of a €40m investment, it just makes it clear that the competition for his signing is bringing his price up.
