As the Portuguese media continues to talk about Benfica star Darwin Nunez and his likely move to a new club in the summer window, Manchester City are still named as one of the contenders for his signing.
Today it’s Record who speaks of the striker’s future, pointing out that with his recent goals, his price is only going up.
The outlet recalls that back in the January window, Benfica turned down a €50m offer from West Ham for the striker, demanding €60m to let him go.
However, Darwin continues having an impressive form, with 25 goals scored this season, and even those figures won’t be enough for Manchester City, or anyone else, to take the ‘man of the moment’ from Lisbon in the summer.
It’s no surprise to see strikers being the most expensive players in the transfer market, and considering how impressive Nuñez has been this season, his price even makes him an interesting alternative for Erling Haaland, who also draws a big competition from the Etihad club and the likes.
Manchester City may have already signed Julian Alvarez from River Plate this year, but since his arrival in the summer is not yet confirmed, the Portuguese media insists that Pep Guardiola’s side are one of those who want the Benfica star.
