Manchester City’s Kyle Walker is expected to depart the club soon and there’s interest from AC Milan, but all of this could scupper some of Manchester United’s plans this month.
Gazzetta dello Sport have reported on Milan’s liking for Walker today and they state the Citizens are now willing to let the right-back leave on a free transfer. That is being done ‘as a sign of recognition’ from the English champions and as an expression of their gratitude for the defender.
At the same time, Walker’s entourage made contact with Milan some days ago. The right-back has made it clear that he wants a two-and-a-half year deal and is willing to spread his €9m per season wage across that period.
Milan are seriously considering the move and on Saturday there was a meeting involving manager Sergio Conceicao and the higher management. The dilemma they have is that they can add only one non-EU player to the side.
That is why they would have to sign either Walker or Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford. There is now a ‘head-to-head’ for these players at the Rossoneri and Conceicao will soon make a decision about who he wants more out of the two.
Rashford and his entourage have listened to Milan’s offer but are taking time to make a final decision, as he is listening to other clubs as well.
