Gerónimo Rulli’s situation remains undefined. The Real Sociedad squad starts working for the new season this Thursday, but the club still don’t know if they can count on their number one goalkeeper, as Manchester City are considered to be the biggest threat to take him from the Spanish side.

Rulli actually belongs to Deportivo Maldonado, an Uruguayan club used by investors. They loan their players to several leagues so they can show their value and then be sold on.

So despite having a good time at Sociedad and being close to reaching a deal with the club, Rulli now depends on Maldonado’s decisions. Marca has an article today saying that even the goalkeeper is tired of this situation, as the South American side (or rather investors there) are trying to create an auction for him.

Speaking to Radio Ovacion (via Marca), Rulli said: “My agent is taking care of my future. I hope whatever happens, happens for the good.”

Marca says that Manchester City have a percentage of the player’s rights, and the club would like to sign him and loan him back to Real Sociedad, giving the Spanish side a buying option. Then City would make sure to have a clause to have him back if needed, even if it meant a much higher amount.

On Tuesday, we covered reports from Argentina which said City were ready to make a “final assault” for the 24-year-old. Maybe both articles are talking about the same thing here.
