Manchester City youngster Liam Delap could end up on loan at Anderlecht this summer as the Belgian club look to repeat the success of Lukas Nmecha last season.
Nmecha proved to be a big hit while on loan with Anderlecht last season but elected to return to Germany this summer rather than make the move to Belgium.
That’s left Vincent Kompany’s side looking for at least one new center-forward to supplement the ranks, and they could turn again to Manchester City for help.
After Nmecha last season, Walfoot report Delap ‘is the target’ but a deal for the youngster will not be easy to get over the line.
Delap is well thought of at the Etihad and has been in and around Pep Guardiola’s team for some time, with them considering him a top talent for the future.
That makes them very protective of him, particularly as he has a contract until 2023 and Manchester City want that extending before letting him out.
The initial plan was to loan him out to the Championship, but Anderlecht could be a ‘better destination’ for him, and they would be willing to sanction a loan deal without an option to buy.
The three clubs are expected to meet soon, and the decision is likely to be made quickly after that as Kompany looks to make use of his Manchester City ties once again.
