Manchester City are set to be without Ferran Torres for over a month after he broke his foot on international duty with Spain.
That’s according to Marca, who say the forward has a ‘small fracture’ in his right foot and will need to spend more than a month on the sidelines as a result.
The newspaper explains that Torres was injured in the recent Nations League semi-final against Italy but, despite the pain, started the final against France.
Indeed he played 84 minutes in that game, but on his arrival back at Manchester City, new tests have detected a small fracture in the area.
According to his first scans, Torres will be out of action for City for at least a month and a half and is virtually ruled out of the next international break, which is a blow for Spain.
Barring a ‘last-minute miracle’, Torres will not be available for the games against Greece and Sweden, both of which are must-win if Luis Enrique’s side are to avoid the playoffs.
Manchester City won’t care about that too much, though, with their concern now on who will fill in their forward line, which was already short of a real centre forward as it was.
Indeed, even if Torres does get back fit in time for the next international break it’s unlikely they’ll be willing to risk him after this latest injury.
