Yaya Toure was the crucial player for Manchester City as they beat Crystal Palace 2-1 away from home at the weekend. Having been banished by manager Pep Guardiola, Toure was recently brought back into the fold after apologising to his Spanish manager.
Manchester City had become angered by the behaviour of Toure’s agent Dimitri Seluk, who of late has liked nothing better than trying to wind up Guardiola via the media. It had got to the stage that it wouldn’t have surprised many had Toure never played for Manchester City again, but things change and for Toure they switched for the better.
Scoiring Manchester City’s opening goal of the game against Crystal Palace, Toure was also the man on hand to score again after Palace had equalised.
Toure’s performance has been recognised by Gazzetta dello Sport. The Italian newspaper have Toure in their European Team of the Week, alongside others including Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Kane.
